Firefighters douse a truck that exploded on Saturday night on a highway in central China’s Hunan Province. Five people were killed and 20 others were injured when the vehicle, which is believed to have been carrying flammable materials, blew up about 8:40pm while it was traveling on the highway near the city of Yueyang. The blast caused four other vehicles to catch fire, while a further seven were damaged. Four of the people injured are said to be in a critical condition. An investigation into the cause of the blast is under way. — Xinhua
